The Genome Editing and Embryology Core (GEEC) Facility was established by Biological Services at King's College London in 2016. The goal of the Facility is to provide state-of-the art support for any projects involving genome editing, the creation of transgenic animals, and general mouse embryology and assisted reproductive technologies (ART).

Key services

  • Genome-edited mouse lines
  • Genome-edited mouse and human stem cell lines
  • Mouse cryopreservation and rederivation

Genome-edited mouse lines

The GEEC has an excellent track record in successfully generating a range of genetic modifications in mice. This includes CRISPR mediated constitutive and conditional gene knock-out, knock-in of point mutations, and both small and large tags. In addition, we also offer line generation by microinjection of genome-edited mouse embryonic stem cells into blastocysts and 8-cell embryos.

Genome-edited mouse and human stem cell lines

In 2022 the GEEC launched a new service to offer genome-editing of mouse and human pluripotent stem cell lines. We have successfully completed projects to deliver targeted knock-in of point mutations and fluorescent tags in human induced pluripotent stem cell lines using CRISPR.

Mouse cryopreservation and rederivation services

The GEEC provides services for both the cryopreservation and rederivation of mouse lines from either sperm or embryos.
