Research & Impact
The Cardiometabolic Theme is led by Professor Manuel Mayr.
While studying molecular interactions has been a research focus for many years and has provided important insight into biology, the attention has now shifted towards a more integrative network biology approach (Nat Rev Cardiol. 2021;18(5):313-330). This theme takes advantage of -omics technologies to integrate biological information in disease-specific networks that drive pathophysiological changes. One focus is on combining different -omics technologies and data integration using state-of-the-art bioinformatics tools and techniques.
