Course overview

Pre-University Summer School courses helps prepare students for university. The course offers an in-depth exploration of a subject area at degree-level and improves students’ understanding of university study. Our courses provide insight into the key debates, themes and cutting-edge research areas of a subject. Students will have the opportunity to collaborate on group assignments and experience social learning which are central elements of undergraduate study.


One session (1 week): £2,900 

Two sessions (2 weeks): £5,800 £5,395**

Three sessions (3 weeks): £8,700 £7,830**

What does this course cover?

Neuroscience is a complex and rapidly developing discipline which seeks to understand the workings of the brain, its function and disorders. This course will introduce you to a range of interdisciplinary topics and techniques relevant to studying brain disorders equivalent to those studied in the first year of university. Students will be exposed to current cutting edge research taking place at our world leading Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience as well as the opportunity to develop analytical and critical thinking skills through collaborative learning.

What will I achieve?

By the end of the course, you should have:

  • Experienced a range of learning activities typical of a first-year undergraduate degree in Neuroscience
  • Learnt different methods used for investigating the structure and function of the brain
  • Been introduced to the biological basis of brain disorders and how this relates to current research
  • Worked collaboratively to produce a presentation relevant to Neuroscience according to an assignment brief

Who is this for?

The King's College London Pre-University Summer School is open to high-achieving students who are about to start or who are enrolled in their final two years of high school and are typically aged 16 and 17. Students must be aged 16 before the start date of their course.
