Secure Futures

Today, uncertainty surrounds all aspects of our lives. Economies are shifting, global tensions are rising, and new technologies are disrupting industries. At the Faculty of Social Science & Public Policy (SSPP) at King’s College London, we believe the future is not something you just wait for, it’s something you shape. And we think social science is key to imagining and building more secure, better futures.

Secure Futures, our new strategic narrative for SSPP, is being developed and rolled out over 2026. We are highlighting all the ways in which, across research and education, our work contributes to security and hope for the future.

On this page you can watch our initial teaser video for the campaign, and read news and updates on work related to the theme. Let us know what you think - and if you are working on anything relevant to Secure Futures, then get in touch. In the meantime stay tuned to this page for updates.

What does the future hold?

From climate change to the cost of living, at the Faculty of Social Science & Public Policy we are meeting the world's biggest challenges through education and research. The future might feel less certain than ever, but social science is one of the best tools we have for securing better futures. Watch our teaser film to see our vision in action.

Our mission, and your role in it

Whether you’re a student looking to build your future, or someone working to make the future better than today, our mission is relevant to you. We’re reshaping our curriculum to adapt to a changing world, focussing on technology, AI, data science, cyber security and economics. We’re researching the big challenges, helping the organisations where change happens to build a more secure world. And we’re bringing people together, from first-year undergraduates with big dreams, to seasoned civil servants who still want to make a difference to government.
