Contacting you in an emergency

To help keep our community safe, it’s essential that we can alert you if there is an emergency on or near our campuses. That’s why we’re introducing safety alert messaging via the SafeZone app and SMS.

Safety alert test:

On Friday 26 September, we will be sending a safety alert test message to all students and staff to test the system. Here’s what to expect:

  • You will receive a short message marked clearly as a test via SMS and a notification from the SafeZone app, if you have downloaded it and enabled notifications.
  • You do not need to reply or take any action, and can delete the message once you have read it.

What you need to do:

  1. Ensure that your mobile number and emergency contact details are up to date in Student Records.
  2. Download the SafeZone app, available for Android and iOS, using your King’s email address to login.

More about SafeZone:

SafeZone is designed to keep you safe and give you extra peace of mind on campus. Alongside receiving real-time notifications about safety updates and incidents, you can use the app to:

  • Check in anytime – let us know where you are on campus, especially if you’re studying or working alone.
  • Get help fast – use the app to discreetly call for support, whether you need first aid or urgent assistance.
  • Report concerns – if you notice something unusual, you can flag it directly in the app, with the option to stay anonymous.

More information about SafeZone is available on our website.
