When I first arrived, I felt a mix of excitement and nerves. Immersing myself in the events and activities during Welcome Week helped me settle in quickly and truly feel part of King’s. It’s the perfect time to meet people, explore the campus, and start building your community.

Here’s your bucket list to make the most of Welcome to King’s! 

Each King’s campus is unique, from the historic Strand to the bustling Guy’s. During Welcome Week, explore your surroundings and discover your new favourite spots. You can join a campus tour to explore where you’ll be studying, with step-free options available to ensure everyone can join in comfortably.

There are also loads of activities to get involved in. Treat yourself to a free mini massage — perfect for unwinding after a long day of activities. Don’t miss the free movie night screening of Deadpool & Wolverine. It’s a great way to kick back and relax while meeting fellow students.

Be sure to also check out unique events like the vintage clothing fair for bargain finds to update your wardrobe, or the society fair to discover clubs that match your interests.

London is your extended campus, and there’s so much to see!

Hop on one of the bus tours for new students — it’s the perfect way to meet people while discovering the city’s iconic landmarks and getting to know the city’s rich history and culture. But don’t wait — spaces fill up quickly, so book early through the Welcome to King’s app.

Once you’ve explored the city’s landmarks, venture off the beaten path to discover London’s hidden gems, like quirky cafes, historic bookshops and the many green spaces perfect for a relaxing day.

Friendship starts here! Whether you’re at a welcome social, joining a society or chatting with coursemates, King’s offers endless opportunities to meet people.

Breaking the ice can feel tricky, but my tip is simple: just start a conversation. Ask about their course, where they’re from or if they want to grab a coffee. One of the best friendships I made started off by chatting with someone at a movie night. We laughed at the same jokes, ended up talking, and now we’re great friends. You’ll be surprised how many people feel just as nervous as you!
