The Dr Malcolm Godfrey Medical Scholarship is established in memory of Dr Malcolm Godfrey, who oversaw the merger of Guys and St Thomas’ medical schools with King’s College London to create the modern GKT School of Medicine, and was an important champion of clinical research in the UK.
The scholarship will be awarded to one home student undertaking a six-year, full time Extended Medical Degree undergraduate programme within the Faculty of Life Sciences and Medicine (FoLSM). This prestigious award will be given to talented students who can demonstrate financial hardship, to support them in their studies at King’s.

Award value
The scholarship will cover £7,500 per year, each year, in the form of a stipend for the scholar to cover living expenses of living in London over the six years of study.
Please note that intercalated years, periods of interruption or repetition will not be covered by the scholarship.
Eligibility criteria
Applicants must fit all of the following criteria:

First year on the Extended Medical Degree Programme (EMDP) 6 year programme in 2025-26

Undertaking their first degree

Home student

Must be in receipt of their maximum entitlement to student loan for maintenance (i.e. household income must be £42,875 or less)

Have given 'consent to share' your household income data with King's to Student Finance England (SFE)

Have been fully financially assessed by Student Finance by the deadline of 9am, 29 Sept 2025
