The Gunning Bursary was very generously founded by Mr Alexander Gunning KC, a Law alumnus of King’s College London. The bursaries are designed to offer assistance to candidates who are in need of extra financial support to undertake their degree.
Award value
The full scholarship value will be £22,500.
This will be paid over a maximum of three eligible years at £7,500 per year.
Awardees will receive the bursary in 2 instalments; the first in October and the second in March (except for the first year’s payment which will be made in December and March), dependent upon continued and satisfactory academic progress and attendance.
Eligibility criteria
To be eligible for The Gunning Bursary, applicants must have:
- Secured a place on the 3 year LLB Law undergraduate programme, September 2025 entry;
- Be undertaking your first undergraduate degree;
- Been assessed as eligible for fee status as a “Home” student, ordinarily resident in the UK;
- Declared a Household Income under £45,000, as verified by Student Finance England/Wales/N.Ireland/SAAS and given consent to share this data with King's;
- Be able to demonstrate financial need
Award conditions
Repeat years will not be funded. Funding will pause during interruption/deferred years. If students undertake a year abroad, an intercalated year or an industrial placement year, this will not be funded by the bursary.
