Module description

The aim of this module is:

  • To develop a deep and systematic understanding of fundamental security concepts and standards, security vulnerabilities and risks.
  • To develop a deep and systematic understanding of the social, physical, technical, and regulatory nature of cyber security and its management.
  • To enable students to assess security risks in information systems and to manage them.

On successful completion of this module, you will be able to:

  • Demonstrate a deep and systematic understanding of security concepts and fundamentals of security management, including security policies and social,physical and technical security controls.
  • Demonstrate a deep and systematic understanding of auditing, continuity planning and management.
  • Perform risk assessment and management with respect to the security of computer systems.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of security economics and human factors in security.
