Summer Programmes COVID-19 FAQs

Update from King's Summer Programmes

COVID-19 UPDATE: At present, we are still planning to run our summer programmes and we are continuing to process applications. We will advise you if this changes. It is likely that we will need to make some adjustments to modules, and if this happens, we will notify you. Please check this page regularly for updates for Summer 2020.

What if I am unable to travel due to COVID-19?

If you have accepted your place and paid your fees but are concerned about the effect that COVID-19 may have on your ability to attend your summer programme, you currently have three options:

  • Wait and see until there is clarification on summer teaching at King’s. We expect a decision to be made towards the end of April and will write to you then to explain next steps.
  • You can immediately request that your place on the programme is deferred until summer 2021.
  • You can request a full refund of fees. See our COVID-19 Refund Policy.

Contact us via your King’s Apply account.

Am I able to transfer from session one to session two if my academic term at home is extended?

Yes, subject to module availability on later sessions. Just send through confirmation from your home institution to show that you are unable to travel on the originally booked dates.

What should I do if I am unable to get a certificate to prove my English proficiency?

Our English requirements are listed here. In circumstances where you are unable to obtain a certificate due to COVID-19 disruption, please contact us via your King’s Apply account and we will consider your individual case.

What if I am unable to attend because of visa delays?

Contact us via your King’s Apply account. See our COVID-19 Refund Policy.

When is the payment deadline?

The deadline for tuition and accommodation fees is 31 May 2020.

Are King’s summer programmes guaranteed to go ahead in 2020?

At present, we are still planning to run our summer programmes and we are continuing to process applications.  We will advise you if this changes and expect to send an update to you at the end of April. It is likely that we will need to make some adjustments to modules, and if this happens, we will notify you.

If you are planning to enrol in a summer programme at King’s, please think through your arrangements carefully. We highly recommend that you keep up to date with your home country’s travel advice to help you plan for any travel to London this summer.

What happens if King’s cancel my summer module?

If King’s cancels or postpones your chosen summer modules, you will be notified and offered the opportunity to either enrol on alternative modules if available, defer your place to 2021 or request a refund of fees. See our COVID-19 Refund Policy

Will the Summer School move to remote teaching?

King’s has moved all its teaching online from 23 March 2020 until the beginning of May. This may be extended beyond May and into the summer teaching period. If this happens, we will be in touch again to advise you how online teaching will work, your options, and next steps.
