King’s rapid digital education response to Covid  

King’s acted quickly to move staff and students to online teaching and learning as a response to the pandemic. Whilst it was a challenging time for on campus based higher education institutions like King’s, previous investment, existing resources and expertise in Digital Education, and a collaborative effort across King’s certainly proved to be advantageous in the rapid adoption to online teaching. Some of the key steps included:  

  • Creation of easily accessible and up-to-date support and guidance to help staff and students.
  • Strengthening of the technology infrastructure and systems to ensure their performance was efficient, reliable, and secure.
  • Analysis of data to identify key trends in teaching and learning.

Some of the key steps included:  

  • The creation of the Digital Learning & Assessment (DLA) workstream and 6 specialist task and finish groups that focused on staff development and support; Student Learning Support; Systems, Designs, and Infrastructure; Digital Assessment and Feedback, KEATS Analytics and Reporting; and Digital Education Accessibility.
  • Creation of easily accessible and up-to-date support and guidance to help staff and students.
  • Strengthening of the technology infrastructure and systems to ensure their performance was efficient, reliable, and secure.  
  • Analysis of data to identify key trends in teaching and learning.
