Briefly, could you explain your background, career and education up to this point.
I am a career conversion nurse. Previously a manager in business consulting. Decided to switch over through a career conversion course offered in Singapore.
Why did you want to study the Nursing BSc at Ngee Ann Academy?
It was mostly King's worldwide ranking as first or second internationally for nursing. Moreover, the flexibility of how the course is conducted at NAA appealed to me as I am doing the course part-time.
You recently received the Community Vanguard First Responder Award by Singapore’s Civil Defence Force. What were you awarded for and how did your training contribute to your actions?
This award is given to members of the public who assist in giving CPR in the community prior to arrival of emergency medical services. It’s a certificate of appreciation by the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).
Being a trained emergency department nurse allowed me to be confident and comfortable in responding to a cardiac arrest in the community.
Has the experience taught you anything?
Bystander CPR improves outcomes in cardiac arrest, and having more members of the public who are willing to perform CPR can only be a good thing.
What’s your favourite thing about studying with King’s and Ngee Ann Academy?
The flexibility of the program and the willingness of King’s tutors to teach and engage with students despite not being physically present.
What do you plan to do after you graduate?
To go on a much-deserved holiday!
