The Department of Mathematics (King's College London) will host an upcoming international conference on Partial Differential Equations, 8-11 January 2018, organised by Dr Mahir Hadzic (King's College London) Professor Alexander Pushnitski (King's College London) and Dr Gustav Holzegel (Imperial College London). The title of the event is "Recent Trends in PDE" and it aims to bring together some of the leading researchers in the field as well as promising young mathematicians.

Description
The Russian State Duma is often dismissed as a 'rubber stamp'. Rather than acting as a meaningful branch of power - a check on executive behaviour or a venue of independent law-making, say - conventional wisdom holds that the lower chamber of the Federal Assembly simply approves decisions made elsewhere, providing a thin veneer of legitimacy for executive decisions.
