Kings experts in the run up to the EU Referendum

Experts from King's College London have been commenting on various topics in the run up to the EU Referendum. On this page you will find links to videos, podcasts, infographics and other resources providing information about the referendum, research and comment from experts at King's.

 

A letter signed by five of London’s research-intensive universities, including Professor Edward Byrne AC, President and Principal of King's College London, was published in the Evening Standard on 21 June 2016.

The Duke of Wellington, Chairman of Council, and Professor Edward Byrne AC, President and Principal of King’s, wrote a letter in a personal capacity to the Editor of the Daily Telegraph. The Daily Telegraph published an edited version on 26 May 2016; the full version can be found here.

19 April - Putting Brexit in to Perspective

On 19th and 20th April, the Regional Security Research Centre held its first event on the security and defence implications of a potential Brexit. The purpose of this workshop was to be a non-partisan venue for leading British and European scholars, think tank researchers, and policy-makers to examine the UK’s role in European foreign, security, and defence policies. Leading representatives included Sir David Omand, Nick Witney, Jamie Shea, Graham Evans, and Ian Bond. 

09 May - Professor Bogdanor and Lord Butler take historical perspective on EU Referendum

Professor Vernon Bogdanor, Research Professor at the Institute of Contemporary British History, and Lord Butler of Brockwell, former Private Secretary to Harold Wilson, spoke to an audience at King’s College London on Monday (09 May), considering the historical context of the EU referendum in comparison to 1975, as the date of the 2016 vote draws closer.

11 May - Irish Ambassador to the UK Daniel Mulhall: 'The UK, Ireland and Europe – a productive partnership'

Daniel Mulhall, the Irish Ambassador to the UK spoke at the 12th event of the Strand Group on Wednesday 11 May, where he set out the Irish case, as a concerned neighbour, of the impact of Britain leaving the European Union.
