About the Centre for European Law

There were just nine EU member countries in 1974 when the Centre for European Law was established. Four decades later and 28 countries, reaching from Ireland to Cyprus, have joined the EU. Research and teaching at the Centre reflects the EU’s widening economic and social impact on its diverse band of members.

Over 450 students are currently enrolled on four Postgraduate Diploma/MA Programmes in EU Law, EU Competition Law, Economics for Competition Law and UK, EU and US Copyright Law.  European experts turn to the Centre for the latest thinking in critical fields such as economic, criminal and environmental law and human rights, often politically sensitive issues within the EU’s member states.

The President of the Centre of European Law is Professor Sir Francis Jacobs, KMCG, QC and its Directors are Professor Andrea Biondi and Professor Takis Tridimas
