About us

Answering fundamental questions about biology in health and disease

We apply this to the development of innovative clinical practice, alongside providing a rigorous academic programme for students.

Our research investigates human health at all resolutions, from the molecular mechanisms underlying disease to clinical trials and medical applications.

Based at Guy’s and Denmark Hill campuses with over 450 staff, we educate the next generation of researchers, clinicians, and healthcare professionals. Our academic programme of research-enhanced teaching, consultancy and clinical practice is embedded across our five departments.

Our Community

As a student and member of our School, you’ll develop lifelong networks and friendships. Whether it’s a being part of contributing to our student blog, taking part in careers and research symposiums or networking with invited world-class speakers you will make connections that will assist your future.

We are linked to the MRC Doctoral training programme and contribute to their integrated and multi-disciplinary approach to medical research.

Development, Diversity & Inclusion

We are passionate about embedding talent development, equality, diversity and inclusion principles and processes in the School, fostering an inclusive community and environment, bringing five Centres’ together under one umbrella.

Our mission is to work together to shape our Development, Diversity & Inclusion (DD&I) Strategy & Delivery.

To do this, we have a School DD&I committee, led by Professor Georgina Ellison-Hughes and have created and implemented an action plan.

We have identified 2 priority areas from our action plan: (1) Work Flexibility and family-friendly services, and (2) Career development and training.
