Course context
Pushed to action by the pandemic, the healthcare industry has learned how to bypass long-standing barriers to innovation and new technology adoption, often at speed. Recent years have brought a focus on equitable care and a shift in the labor force, and an influx of new healthcare investments: Healthcare venture capital funds raised nearly $22 billion, marking 2022 the second largest fundraising year on record*. Fuelled by breakthrough innovations, the global healthcare services market is expected to grow by 10% to $7.5 Trillion in 2022**.

Programme schedule
This course is taught as a combination of in-persion classes and virtual sessions. The in-person classes will be taught from 08:30 - 18:00 at both King's Business School in London, and IE Business School in Madrid.
The online sessions will be taught between 16:00 - 17:30 GMT / 17:00 - 18:30 CET.

Course directors
Professor Dana Minbaeva is a Professor of Human Resource Management at King's Business School. Her research on strategic international HRM has appeared in top international journals such as Academy of Management Review, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Management Studies, Human Resource Management, and many others. Dana has published over 70 articles in international peer reviewed journals, as well as numerous book chapters and reports. She received several national and international awards to research achievements, including the prestigious JIBS Decade Award 2013. She is the Fellow of the Academy of International Business (AIB).
Dana is actively involved in the MBA and executive teaching at various European business schools. Previously, she has taught in Denmark, Kazakhstan, Russia, Lithuania, Kyrgyzstan, Finland and Germany as well as having held visiting research positions in Ireland, Australia and Canada. Dana is a founder and research partner of Nordic Human Capital Advisory ApS.
Dr Joaquin Azpilicueta, MD, Cardiologist, MBA, has over 30 years in the medical devices sector in executive positions building and expanding international markets and businesses and delivering profitable growth and shareholders value. These positions include P&L management, sales management of direct and distributors sales teams, talent management, medical affairs and key opinion leader (KOL) management, market access and market development, strategic planning for new product launch and geographic expansion.
Joaquin obtained his MD degree at the University of Navarra in Spain, in 1979 and specialized in Cardiology at the University Clinic of Navarra (CUN). He thereafter practiced as a cardiologist in several public and private institutions, with focus on non-invasive cardiology techniques and intensive care.
