Executive Fellows


King's Business School has an ambition of connectivity, ensuring a flow of ideas from the school to the world and vice versa. A key priority over the coming period is to enhance our profile, bolstering our education offerings and strengthening our research collaborations with external partners.

Our External Fellows programme encourages the participation and effective deployment of external practitioners. It is a stepping stone towards stronger and more enduring corporate partnerships and also provides opportunities to enrich our educational offerings if managed effectively.  

Introducing our Executive Fellows, who, through their extensive networks and experience, will support King’s Business School in this venture.

Anthony Gahan



Anthony Gahan has over 30 years of international investment banking and business experience which he applies when he is advising on M&A and equity transactions and on the boards of companies where he has held Chairman or Non-executive director roles.

Anthony is a Managing Partner and co-founder of Wyvern Partners, the London based investment banking business and founded IPSX Group, which operates the world’s first stock exchange dedicated to the IPO and trading of real estate companies.  He is also currently a non-executive director of Maru Group, a technology-driven global insights company with operations in North America and the UK.

Throughout his career Anthony has focused on private equity transactions and growth equity financings.  He held senior executive and board roles at Lehman Brothers and Robert Fleming & Co. Limited and his sector specialisation started with a deep understanding of the global industrials sector.  In more recent years he has focused on business services, media, data, fintech and “disruption” (businesses that disrupt markets with technology and/or with new business models). 

Anthony is an alumnus of King’s College London (Modern Languages) and the London Business School.  He is fluent in French, Spanish and Portuguese.

Laura Hinton


Laura Hinton, Member of the Executive Board and Head of People at PwC UK, is a graduate of Business Management from King’s College London. Laura is responsible for setting and delivering the People Strategy across the UK Firm. She is also a Partner within PwC’s People and Organisation Practice, where she works with FTSE100 clients across a number of sectors to advise on culture change, workforce transformation and performance management.

Dr Michael Holland


Dr Michael Holland is currently Medical Director at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust and works as a Liaison Psychiatrist at Guy’s hospital. He is also a visiting Senior Fellow at London School of Economics where he teaches a course on Quality Management in Healthcare. He is currently an expert adviser for the Mental Safety Improvement Programme for England.  

He was a Fellow at the NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement where he worked on the development of resources for the use of SBARD within Mental Health and helped to set up and deliver Leading Improvement in Patient safety for Mental Health services within the UK. He has also worked as an Improvement Advisor to the Improvement programmes delivered in NHS South West and NHS South. 

Philip Henry Keller


Philip was the Chief Finance and Operating Officer of Intermediate Capital Group plc, a FTSE 250 alternative investment company, until July 2019. He was responsible for finance, risk, operations, HR and compliance. Philip built up the finance, operational and governance infrastructure of ICG during a period of rapid growth since the GFC. He was part of a three person executive that delivered total shareholder return of 1,154% (vs FTSE All share 170%) from 2009 to 2019 and took ICG to the edge of the FTSE100. Prior to ICG, Philip was CFO of ERM Holdings Limited, one of the world’s largest environmental consultancies. He has also held senior management roles with Johnson & Johnson and GlaxoSmithKline. Philip trained as a chartered accountant with Arthur Andersen & Co.

Philip is a non-executive director of John Laing Plc (chair of Audit and Risk committee), the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Northern Ballet and London Music Masters. Philip is also a co-opted member of the KCL Finance committee.

Philip is an amateur conductor and is studying for a masters in music.

Dr Gillian Kingston


Dr Gillian Kingston is a Research Director at M&C Saatchi World Services, where she is responsible for leading and collaborating on global studies to inform and evaluate social marketing and communication campaigns for organisations such as the Gates Foundation, UNICEF and DFID. Her research has focused on issues including maternal and child health, sexual and reproductive health, education, and migration.

In her previous role Gillian worked as a Senior Research Manager at BBC Media Action, where she evaluated health communication campaigns across Asia and Africa. She has also taught Quantitative Research Methods at Trinity College Dublin, and worked as a researcher at the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI) Ireland. Gillian holds a PhD in Sociology and an MSc in Applied Social Research Methods from Trinity College Dublin.

James Penny



Over his 32 year career within the Wealth Management industry, James has held a number of client facing roles progressing to his current role as Managing Director and Head of UK International Private banking for Barclays, where he is responsible for a multi-billion dollar portfolio. James travels extensively within, India, Asia, Russia, the Middle East and Africa and maintains personal relationships with many of the world’s wealthiest individuals and families. He has appeared on the Top 100 International Wealth Advisors list since 2007, is included in the 2019 Top 10 “Magic Circle” of Private bankers, the 2019 Top 20 men in Wealth Management list and has previously been voted by industry peers as CityWealth International Private Banker of the year.  In 2018 James received a Career Achievement award for his contribution to the Private Banking industry.

Throughout his career James has been an enthusiastic supporter of female industry talent and gender diversity, initiating and then actively supporting many Mentorship and Sponsoring programmes.  James has spoken widely on the subject of Gender Diversity.  He is regularly sought out to mentor individuals from a variety of different industries.

James has been a School Governor at a number of maintained schools in London over a 20 year period and has worked in several socially disadvantaged London Boroughs on developing life skills for school leavers.He sits on the Boards of several Charities serving the Education and Arts sectors.

James is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment and an Associate of the London Institute of Banking and Finance.

Dr Lionel Ponsard

Dr Lionel Ponsard is currently the Group Chief Financial Officer of Fawaz Al Hokair Group and Vice President Finance of Arabian Centers Company. In his present role, he leads the Fawaz Al Hokair Group's strategic and operational finance functions and supported the IPO of Arabian Centers Company as well as the launch of an Islamic Bond. He has more than 20 years experience in finance, operations, and management consulting.
