Mentoring and Support

Between tutoring advice from academics to opportunities to connect with alumni internationally, King's Business School offers multiple opportunities for undergraduate students to connect with mentors who can guide them to success.

All students are allocated a personal tutor, one of our King's Business School academics. Your personal tutor will be your primary academic point of contact, and can offer support and guidance, discuss academic progress, or direct you to specialist support services.

Personal tutors provide you with the opportunity to periodically take stock of your learning, academic progress and general wellbeing as you progress through your studies, offering guidance on how to seek further support if you need it, and how to access the range of opportunities available to you as a King's student. Learn more about personal tutoring at King's on Student Services Online.

The Student Mentoring Programme is an is optional Undergraduate peer mentoring programme which matches first year students with experienced second, third or fourth-year students to help and support them throughout the academic year.

Mentors will share their experiences and knowledge about their time at King’s and help their mentees settle into the university and the Business School community. They will offer appropriate advice and guidance and signpost to relevant support services where needed. Thy have undergone training and with have access to other opportunities to enhance their personal development and gain further skills.

Mentees will gain valuable insight and knowledge from students who have been where they are as well as building their confidence and developing their academic and social skills whilst making new friends across the year groups.

Our Diversity Mentoring programme connects BAME and female undergraduate students with experienced alumni to discover new career possibilities. The programme supports students from groups which are under-represented in business leadership roles.

As a student mentee, you’ll build the knowledge, confidence and adaptability to be the right kind of leader that economy and society needs. The programme will foster your professional networking skills through 1-1 support from an experienced business professional.

"I found it hugely beneficial to talk to someone who has years of experience and is also a woman working in finance. Most importantly, my mentor provided me with unbiased advice and an objective perspective which helped me with career planning and gave me a valuable insight into the industry" Lyubomira, International Management BSc, 2020

The programme runs from October-April, during which time you’ll meet with your mentor monthly. You’ll be supported via an online platform to connect with other mentors and mentees. Plus, you’ll receive regular resources and invitations to networking events from the King’s alumni team.

This programme is not running during the 2020/2021 academic year.
