KEATS: Using Moodle Workshop for Peer Assessment (Advanced)

Description:

This online session provides an overview of what the Moodle Workshop tool is, how it can be used in peer assessment and also looks at the automated assessment grading options that are available. The session will also have a live simulation of the peer assessment process from both an academic and student point of view. During the session, participants will take the role of a student to gain a better understanding of the students experience, whilst also being shown how to manage the Moodle Workshop tool from an academic/ administrative point of view by the session lead.

  • Attending this session assumes you have at least an intermediate working knowledge of KEATS. If you are unfamiliar with adding activities or resources to a KEATS course then it is strongly recommended that you attend KEATS: The Basics (Beginner) and KEATS : Quizzes with Question Banks (Intermediate) before joining this session.
  • Participants must be comfortable attending online meetings using Microsoft Teams.
  • Participants MUST COMPLETE the flipped learning activity prior to attending the session.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the session the learner should be able to:

  • Understand the process and different phases of the Moodle Workshop activity.
  • Complete a single peer assessment.
  • Complete multiple peer assessments.
  • Understand the difference between the Grade for Submission and the Grade for Assessment, and how they are created.
  • Understand the impact of a graded and non-graded Moodle Workshop activity from both a student point of view and also how it affects the gradebook.
  • Setup a Moodle Workshop activity using the rubric grading strategy.
  • Be familiar with the different grading strategies available within the Moodle Workshop activity.
