Objects & acts of resilience

1 - my creative/mental health pursuits!

The biggest thing I've been doing is trying new things with my baking and cooking, and trying to do daily yoga. I have been doing yoga for five years, and have never been able to do any of the more complicated poses or put much effort into my practice. I just started week 7 of daily yoga, and have found that not only am I getting physically stronger (I can do a crow pose now!) but it helps my mind quite a bit. That's also how I feel about baking - I have, thanks to the generosity of a KCL professor, a thriving sourdough starter. Every week I've been attempting to perfect a sourdough loaf. I've also tried fancy bread (a tangzhong pain de mie), and some of my old favorites. I finally had the time and drive to attempt making pad thai (it's so easy, and so yummy), dalgona whipped coffee, and far more.

2 - made my space work for me (& my flatmates)

It seems trivial at first, but since I live in student accommodation, I didn't realize how much I would miss leaving my flat to study, work, and exist elsewhere. We don't have any common spaces open beyond our kitchen, which largely limits me to my bedroom desk for most of the day. I re-did my desk setup, decorated with postcards, and have been constantly buying the cheapest flowers I can find at Tesco to bring life to my workspace! My flatmates helped me reorganize our kitchen supplies, water our herbs, and keep everything as clean as possible for the sake of our sanity.

3 - long walks!

I usually walk to and from campus every day, and I miss walking constantly. When it's nice out, which was basically every day this month, I go for a walk around London - it's so weird to see areas like St. Pauls with no people!
