In our hands: An experiential installation

Ernst Bloch declared in The Spirit of Utopia, ‘Life has been put into our hands.’

Picking up this direction this project gave audiences the chance to experience a collection of intercultural Utopian expressions drawn from Navajo designs to Roger Fry and Slavoj Žižek, and our stories of creation. Le Gun Collective and Dr Richard Howells demonstrated how humankind is striving to fashion a better world from the raw materials we inherit.

Dr Richard Howells is a cultural sociologist specialising in visual and popular culture, as well as cultural and critical theory.

Le Gun Collective create idiosyncratic imagery which blends a punk, occult, pop and surrealist aesthetic. As well as being the producers of their cult self-titled magazine, the group is internationally recognised for their enigmatic installations and art shows.
