Research

Health and illness have crucial social and political dimensions – raising profound social, political and ethical challenges in all regions of the world. Our research engages with these issues through conceptually rigorous empirical research with important practical and policy implications.

The Department of Global Health and Social Medicine is ranked within the top 10 sociology departments in the UK, and is only in its second year. 100 percent of the impact of its research is judged to be world-leading or internationally excellent.

King’s College London has historically been at the forefront of medical research and teaching – our departmental research culture builds on King’s excellence to extend health research in a social context, exploring the new issues raised by developments in biomedicine.
