Congratulations to Ruth Sugden for winning the King’s Award 2016 for Most Innovative Teacher.

Ruth is Phase 5 GP Lead for the King’s Undergraduate Medical Education in the Community team, who co-ordinate, support and promote medical education in community contexts as part of the MBBS.

She runs learning programmes for students who have failed or who are at risk of failing their final year at medical school. The programmes include workshops, mentoring and small group work. Innovations include the use of actors to address confidence issues, mindfulness to address anxiety, and action learning sets to build self-efficacy.

Ruth says in the King's Award video: "I felt very honoured being nominated for a King's Award; it's nice to know that the students appreciate the hard work I do."
