NeuroScience Society

Neuroscience Society - NeuroSoc

KCL NeuroSoc was founded in 2005 with the aim of uniting students across KCL with a passion for neuroscience, and encouraging discussion, dissemination of ideas and engagement of students with Neuroscience and its allied disciplines. Our goal is to provide a platform for learning, the pursuit of original research and the development of career opportunities in the field.

neurosocOur core activities include regular academic events and meetings to engage and inspire students with cutting-edge Neuroscience developments, as well as social events to provide a forum through which ideas can be expressed and where contacts can be established between students of different years, giving a sense of continuity within the department.

NeuroSoc’s calendar for the 2017-18 academic year comprises a very diverse range of events (see poster), from monthly talks on Neuroscience related topics, granting certificates to regular attendees, to fundraisers organised by our charity, NeuroAid. Our highly popular annual Careers Fair aims to bring in Neuroscience academics, medical professionals from the fields of Neurology and Neurosurgery, as well as British Neuroscience Association (BNA) and industry representatives, providing students with an invaluable opportunity for networking and addressing any queries they might have about the different career paths.

Our highly successful annual conference has also become a highlight of the Neuroscience calendar; last year’s symposium received more than 200 delegates and overwhelmingly positive feedback from both students and academics. Building upon this success, we are in the process of planning the 2018 conference, which shall be organised in streams of talks and workshops categorised by their level of complexity, in order to cater to every attendee’s Neuroscience background (for example, an “undergraduate” stream versus a “Masters/PhD” one).
