Biography

Chenlei holds a Ph.D. in Biomedicine from King’s College London, completed under the supervision of Dr. Ciro Chiappini (KCL) and Dr. Michael Thomas (UCL). His doctoral research focused on the design and application of silicon nanoneedles for spatiotemporal omics. In September 2025, he joined the lab as Manager of the Spatial Biology Facility, a Research Interest Group within the Faculty of Life Sciences and Medicine, where he oversees advanced spatial omics platforms (Bruker CosMx SMI and 10x Genomics Xenium) and supports multidisciplinary research across transcriptomics, proteomics, and mass spectrometry–based imaging.

    spatial transcriptomics
    Grigoriadis Cancer Bioinformatics

The Grigoriadis Cancer Bioinformatics group is exploring molecular determinants at the primary tumour site and in the draining lymph nodes, mainly in triple negative breast cancers.

    Chiappini Lab

Nanotechnology, bioengineering and cell biology to develop functional materials that direct cell behaviour, for applications in regenerative and precision medicine.

    Well-defined gels
Centre for Craniofacial & Regenerative Biology

Our research goes beyond the mouth. If we understand how the entire face and head forms, we can repair damage and regenerate cells. If we unravel the causes of diseases, we can treat patients successfully. If we solve these problems, our discoveries will improve health worldwide.
