Public trust in expertise (PERITIA)

In a world increasingly relying on knowledge and scientific evidence, trust in expertise is crucial to achieve progress and wellbeing. We need experts to help policymakers and citizens take the correct decisions in important matters such as health or climate change.

PERITIA is an EU-funded project investigating public trust in expertise. The Policy Institute is part of a multi-disciplinary team seeking to help citizens and policymakers understand trust in science and identify trustworthy expertise. By doing so, the project aims to enhance trust in a better democratic governance for the future of Europe.

Our Trust Hub offers a space to interact with data from social surveys on public trust in individuals and institutions central to public policy, with a particular focus on Europe.

You can find our dataset here and our latest reports at the links below.
