Led by former Home Secretary and Visiting Professor Charles Clarke, the Towards a Sustainable State projects aims to provide a platform for informed debate and analysis on some of the UK’s biggest policy challenges, during a period where public services are stretched and the public purse is being squeezed.

Drawing on the views of a wide range of experts from many disciplines, we are holding seminars and producing analysis, blogs and videos to explore pressing issues – such as the housing crisis, the UK’s ageing population, and the future of work – and generate a more substantive debate.
