About Us

Our mission is to forge collaborations among London-based scientists and researchers to enhance the quality and dissemination of research in Vascular Biology.

Since 2001, the Forum has organised more than 60 Research Meetings, as well as annual Christmas Poster meetings. The Forums attract an audience of between 50-120 at each meeting. The large majority of participants are PhD students and young postdoctoral research assistants, aged between 23-35 years. This makes the Forum a 'young and informal' platform for the discussion and exchange of ideas.

As stated in our Mission Statement, activities of the London Vascular Biology Forum are focused on vascular biology research based in London. Since our launch in 2001, the Forum has facilitated the exchange of research expertise leading to collaborative grant applications, dissemination of job opportunities for PhD students and young postdocs, and provided free social events with light refreshments (e.g. mulled wine during our well-attended Christmas Poster meetings).

Each year our Research Forums are held at four different London university campuses. The Forum is half-day scientific meeting with a maximum of four presentations (two 45 minute overview lectures and two 20-30 minute talks given by younger researchers). The Forum meetings provide a stimulating venue for postgraduates, postdoctoral researchers, established independent fellows and senior staff to share their research findings and expertise. A free buffet reception is provided after each meeting. Christmas Poster meetings enable our PhD and postdoctoral researchers to discuss their research with other colleagues from the host Institutions in an informal and friendly atmosphere. The Forum awards poster prizes and certificates for the best poster presentations.

Additionally, we regularly offer opportunites for travel grants for PhD students and postdoctoral researchers. When available information on grants will be posted here.
