Become a Library Champion

Library Champions

Would you like to help shape Libraries & Collections at King’s and gain valuable experience?

As a Library Champion you can become an important link between students and Libraries & Collections, helping to bring the views of students into decision making, and ensure that students' needs are understood in the development of library services, resources and spaces.

At the same time, you will have a chance to apply and grow your skills in influencing, networking, and presenting, while developing knowledge in areas such as exhibition curation, inclusive teaching and services, open access publishing and much more. Depending on the opportunities you choose, you can gain valuable experience to add to your CV, receive hourly pay and/or vouchers in return for you time and insight.

I was able to work with students from other faculties as well: from the Humanities faculty, the Public Policy department, in short members of King’s which I don't think I would have gotten the chance to, it was really great to mix and mingle with other faculties as well.– Nada Aljohani, Open Access Champion 2021-22

This academic year we’re offering a mix of opportunities to develop collections, spaces, and services:

  • Longer projects (up to 10 hours) where you will have the opportunity to collaborate with Library Staff.
  • Various shorter opportunities (up to 1 hour each) to offer your insight and feedback.

Wherever possible we try to fit these opportunities around your study and work commitments. Once you sign up to become a Library Champion, you’ll hear more about the opportunities available throughout the year.

We are very keen to include a wide range of voices in the Library Champions programme, and particularly welcome students from backgrounds underrepresented in academia. You do not need to be a regular library user to get involved.
