A reminder of IT support and services available

Having difficulties logging into your email, connecting via Windows Remote Access, need a laptop on campus or having trouble printing? Below we list different on-campus services available and the ways that you can get support with your IT issues while studying at King’s.

On Campus Services

Laptop Loans

Borrow a laptop from King's. Laptops are available in each library for use by King’s students, find out more on the library loan system.

Chargeboxes

Get up to 30 minutes of free charging time for your personal devices - including phones and tablets. Simply turn off your alarms, lock your device and charge!

Currently available at our Strand, Waterloo, Guys and Denmark Hill Campuses.

Connecting to Wi-Fi (Eduroam) on-campus

Eduroam is the official education network for King's staff, students and researchers.

All you need to login is you K number (e.g. K1234567@kcl.ac.uk) and your usual King's password.

Printing Services

Follow Me Printing allows students to print to a variety of locations across the university, simply use your King’s ID card or King’s email address.

Send your printing from your personal device by attaching your document and sending an email from your King’s account to emailprint@kcl.ac.uk

Please note there is a charge for printing and default printing is double-sided and in black and white. To make changes to these settings, you must click on the ‘properties’ tab before you print (this may incur an additional cost).

King’s IT Essentials

Microsoft Office 365

All King’s students and staff have a Microsoft 365 account, this gives you access to:

  • E-mail (Outlook)
  • Calendars
  • Teams
  • 2TB of storage
  • Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Software available to support your studies

On The Hub provides a range of free software you can download to your personal device

Free Anti-virus software and data protection tools

Make sure any anti-virus software you have is up to date and active, King’s offers free anti-virus software for personal devices.

King's students, researchers and staff can improve the level of security on their personal devices by downloading Trend Micro. Please note this is just for your personal device as King's IT will manage security protection for King's approved (SOE) devices – find out more and download here

Get equipped with the Essential Digital Skills Programme

The Essential Digital Skills Programme aims to ensure that all King’s students learn the digital skills required to support their academic, professional, and personal development.

You’ll be able to access the programme, once you log into KEATS

On-campus and online support

On-campus support with the IT TechBar

Support is available on in-person on campus between 10.00 – 16.00, Monday to Friday.

Find the IT TechBars in the Maughan Library, on Guy’s campus in the New Hunt’s House Library and at Waterloo in the Franklin Wilkins Library Libraries.

Helix – the new online self-service portal

Helix DWP (Digital Workplace) is the online self-service portal, where you can find answers to frequently asked questions, submit requests for assistance or report issues. You can monitor the progress of any existing requests (tickets).

Helix is available via helix.kcl.ac.uk

If reporting an issue or requesting support, you may find the answer or information you need in Helix.
