We’re serious about educational equality

Our university has a clear goal: to make the world a better place. However, the opportunity for a great education is not distributed fairly. We want to change this. We work with underrepresented students and their supporters, empowering them to access and succeed in higher education because social mobility is necessary to redress social inequality. Our work removes barriers to success throughout a student’s educational journey. Our actions help to create a world in which a young person’s destination is not limited by their start in life. King’s has been named University of the Year for Social Inclusion in the Daily Mail University Guide 2027, recognising the university’s commitment to widening access to higher education and supporting student success. The award highlights King’s long-standing work to remove barriers to education through programmes such as Step Up Scholars, King’s Scholars, Scholars+, and K+, which support students from underrepresented backgrounds from school through to university and beyond. The recognition also reflects King’s ongoing commitment to inclusion through tailored student support, financial assistance, and partnerships with local communities that help create opportunities for young people across London and beyond.
