Tip: Once you join the three year course, there is usually still the opportunity to consider spending some time studying abroad, if permitted by your course. For further details see our Study Abroad pages.

Some of our bachelors are available as four year degrees and are structured to include three years of study as well as a year abroad or in industry. Typically these are 'sandwiched' between years 2 and 3 of study.
This brings the total time at university to four years, but means that you graduate not only with a prestigious academic degree, but also fantastic experience of life in another country or working in business (either of which will be highly valued by future employers). Search for courses that offer a year abroad/year in industry on our online prospectus.
Note: These courses are only available to study full-time from a September start.
Dual and joint degrees are unique opportunities for students to study at two institutions, with time typically split evenly between campuses. Students benefit from world-renowned experience and expertise in two outstanding institutions while gaining an insight into life in two cities.

Many of our degrees in the Faculty of Natural, Mathematical & Engineering Sciences, and Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine are available as both three year bachelor's or as four year MSci or MEng courses. If you choose the four year option, you will study full time for four years, and attain a higher level of qualification after pursuing a research project in your fourth year.

King's offers degrees in Medicine (MBBS - up to 5 years) Dentistry (BDS - up to 5 years) and Pharmacy (MPharm - 4 years) which lead to professional registration. Many students choose to still undertake some part-time work around their studies, but it's important to ensure that you still leave enough time for your self-directed learning, reading, and assignments. Read more about student wellbeing on our webpage.
Note: If you are not a UK national and are thinking of working part-time during your studies, please read our Student Services guidance on the type of work and number of hours which you can undertake.
