Our students

Who we are

Each year over 2,000 students choose to study in the War Studies Department.

Our cohort is diverse, with individuals ranging from 18 to 70,  from different backgrounds, faiths, ethnicities, and nationalities, who bring to War Studies a broad range of experiences, abilities and skills.

The department supports diversity and respect, encouraging a focus on the strengths and weaknesses of arguments rather than on the gender, sexual orientation, race, nationality, or other characteristics of those presenting the arguments.

Student Networks

This project and website is a platform for the public, students, and academics to engage with one another and explore the challenges of understanding and fighting nationalist politics. It is administered by students of A History of Nations, Nationalism and Theories of the State

The King’s College London Think Tank is a unique student society and the first student led policy institute in London. Students from all disciplines are invited to come and contribute to problem-solving on a wide variety of issues such as foreign policy, energy and environment, business and finance, immigration, defense, healthcare, education, crime and many other areas of public policy

Strife combines political, historical, literary, and philosophical approaches to conflict (among other things) for our readers. Strife is led by doctoral and graduate researchers based in the Department of War Studies

Women in War and International Politics (WIWIP) is a King’s College London network of women students, staff and alumnae from across the Faculty of Social Sciences and Public Policy. We seek to support and make more visible the role of women from King's who are active in the fields of War Studies and International Politics, whether as students, researchers, or practitioners. We also hope to promote and encourage exploration of the question of gender and its implications in war, conflict, foreign policy, and security practices.
