Research interests and PhD supervision

·         Philosophy of Science

·         Epistemology

·         Medicine, especially Psychiatry

Her work in philosophy of science has been mainly in general methodology -- the nature of evidential support, realism vs. anti-realism, experiment vs. simulation, Bayesian probabilistic rationality theory (especially second-order), track-record arguments – and she has an interest in the role of computation in science. In epistemology her interests include knowledge, justification, understanding, evidence, the growth of error, self-knowledge, and self-doubt. She is currently working on a book Rational Self-Doubt. She has many interests in medicine, and is currently developing a collaborative research project Rationality and Mental Disorder, and another on standardization. She welcomes applications from Ph.D. students in her areas of interest.
