Research groups

Cancer Bioinformatics

The Cancer Bioinformatics group is exploring molecular determinants at the primary tumour site and in the draining lymph nodes, mainly in triple negative breast cancers.

Cancer Early Phase Trials Unit

Led by Professor James Spicer, Dr Debashis Sarker and Dr Rebecca Kristeleit, the Cancer Early Phase Trials Unit focuses on the discovery and development of novel molecular and cellular cancer immunotherapies.

Department of Cancer Imaging

Our research is dedicated to improving the effectiveness and reducing side effects of cancer treatment through imaging technology. A highly collaborative department, we work closely with national and international institutions, industry leaders and clinical academics to personalize cancer treatment for each patient.

CAR Mechanics Group

The CAR Mechanics Group originated in 2004 and has sought to develop and translate novel CAR T-cell strategies for the treatment of patients with refractory solid tumours. We have developed several experimental CAR approaches in addition to ancillary technologies that enable improved CAR T-cell expansion and homing to sites of disease. The CAR Mechanics group has advanced one candidate named T4 immunotherapy to Phase 1 clinical trial evaluation with funding from the Jon Moulton Charitable Foundation, Wellcome Trust and the Biomedical Research Centre at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.
