Our Research Departments

Engineering better health

Our research is organised into ambitious, large-scale and long-term research projects supported by our set of six departments and ten centres.

The Departments of Biomedical Engineering and Surgical and Interventional Engineering provide the technical expertise in activities across clinical data science and AI, minimally-invasive robotic surgery, guided therapies, devices and advanced imaging.

These technologies are applied through our clinically-led departments, specialising in Cancer, Cardiovascular and Perinatal Imaging and Imaging Chemistry and Biology. Collaboration is at the heart of what we do, and it's this diverse infrastructure which allows us to combine expertise to deliver ground breaking results.
