Cardiovascular Imaging


More than 7 million people in the UK are living with cardiovascular disease. 

Our Department’s main interest is oriented towards cardiovascular disease, especially aortic and heart disease in children and adults with congenital defects. Our research spans from preclinical and phantom work, to large multi-centre trials with the goal to improve the clinical pathway and patient outcomes. 

Why Study at the Department of Cardiovascular Imaging

  • We deliver state-of-the-art clinical research facilities, providing cardiac MRI services to more than 4,500 patients a year who are eligible for research purposes 
  • Our close collaboration with the Department of Cardiology of St Thomas’ Hospital, the 2nd largest in the UK (more than 4.5 million people), and with the NHS network in the south-east of England
  • Our commitment to the translation of novel technical developments into clinical applications
