Admissions and Application Process
Executive MBA students normally have an undergraduate degree from a recognised university, and we would look for a 2:1 Bachelor’s (Honours) degree in any discipline. All applications are reviewed holistically, taking into consideration academic background, leadership experience within the CV, personal statement and a professional reference. If you don’t have a 2:1 degree but have substantial leadership experience and can provide a strong application demonstrating that you can excel on this Masters programme, we would welcome an application from you. If you’re unsure on your eligibility, please send your CV to ExecutiveMBA@kcl.ac.uk and we will advise you accordingly.
The GMAT test is optional and you would not be required to undertake this if you have not previously sat the test. If you do hold a GMAC Executive Assessment, GMAT or GRE, we encourage you to submit this under the ‘Professional and Other Relevant Qualifications’ Section on the King’s Apply form, however, this is not a compulsory requirement.
Yes, there is a £130 application fee. This is non-refundable, irrespective of the outcome of the decision on your application. We are unable to offer application fee waivers.
There will be five application rounds and application deadlines can be found below. Early application is recommended so that there is sufficient time for your application to be assessed, and so that you can be considered for a scholarship. This also allows you time to book any required English language tests and apply for a visa (if applicable).
Application deadlines
We require one current/recent professional reference. Your referee should be either your line manager or other senior colleague who knows you in a professional capacity. Please note that we cannot accept academic referees. Please upload a word document to the ‘Additional Information’ section of King's Apply containing the following information about your referee – their name, job title, their relation to you, the company they work for, work email address (please note we cannot accept non-work email addresses e.g. Hotmail, Gmail etc), company address, telephone number and when you consent for us to contact your referee (at point of application submission OR at point of offer). We will then contact your referee for a written reference.
You will be asked to upload the following documents to your application: your final, official degree certificates in colour (if this does not confirm your final award, please upload your final official degree transcript in colour and if your academic documents were not issued in English, then you will be asked to upload certified translations), personal statement, referee details, certificates if you have undertaken an English Language test. You do not need to provide school or pre-university certificates.
After your application is submitted, it will initially be reviewed by the Admissions team. We ask that you monitor your emails and King’s Apply portal for messages. We may get in touch with you if we require further information or documentation. Your application will then be referred to the Programme Director who will review your application holistically, taking into consideration your academic background, your CV and personal statement. We will let you know if you have been selected for interview. If selected, you will be able to book a slot for an online Teams Interview with the Programme Director. Applicants are usually informed regarding the outcome of their interview within 7 days.
You should provide a 500-word personal statement. This should outline your current role and responsibilities, your career goals and personal ambitions (including how you believe an Executive MBA will support you in working towards these), something that particularly attracts you to King’s College London and the King’s Executive MBA, what participation and experience you will bring to contribute to the Executive MBA classroom, cohort and King’s College London community.
Nationals of majority English speaking countries (as defined by the UKVI) who have permanently resided in this country are not usually required to complete an additional English language test. This is also the case for applicants who have successfully completed an undergraduate degree (of at least three years duration), a postgraduate taught degree (of at least one year), or a PhD in a majority English speaking country (as defined by the UKVI) within five years of the course start date.
If you are NOT a national of a UKVI-defined Majority English Speaking Country but have graduated or are working in the medium of English Language (in one of these countries) then we will assess your eligibility for an English Language waiver after we have received your application. Please note that applications are reviewed holistically on a case-by-case basis to determine if an English Language test is required or not.
The full list of English Language tests that we accept can be found under Band B below.
English Language tests are not required at the point of application and can be a condition of offer. However, early application is recommended to ensure that you have sufficient time to undertake any tests required.

Visa Requirements
Unless you are a British/Irish National or hold immigration permission for the UK which allows study (e.g. settled status), you will be required to apply for a part-time Student Visa to study on this programme. Please note that this requirement also applies to EU Nationals.
The part-time Student Visa conditions are more limited than the full-time Student Visa, as there are no rights to work or perform business activity and no rights to bring dependents with you. Moreover, absences from the UK could impact eligibility for the Graduate Route visa (if you are interested in applying for this route after completing this programme).
You will be required to pay your own visa fees and Immigration Health Surcharge. The latest visa fee information can be found on the GOV.UK website .
If you have any questions, please contact our Visa & International Student Advice team .
Unfortunately, students are unable to enrol onto the Executive MBA programme under this route and would need to apply for and obtain a part-time Student Visa before arriving in the UK.
The Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) gives certain nationalities the ability to travel to the UK without applying for a Visitor Visa in advance of travel. Unfortunately, students are unable to enrol onto the Executive MBA programme under this route and would need to apply for and obtain a part-time Student Visa before arriving in the UK.
A CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) will be made available to eligible applicants via their King's Apply Account . A CAS number can only be created if you have a) received an unconditional offer, b) accepted the offer, c) provided us with your passport details via King's Apply and d) told us in your application that you require a visa to study with us. CAS’s will be issued to eligible applicants from May onwards with the majority being issued over the summer.
Student Experience
The schedule has been designed for busy professionals with work, family and social commitments in mind. The part-time programme is 21 months in duration with the in-person element being delivered in 10 intensive blocks every 6-8 weeks. Each block will last around 4-5 days (including the weekend) and alongside the in-person teaching, you’ll also take part in virtual learning. Please email ExecutiveMBA@kcl.ac.uk and we can provide you with the upcoming timetable.
The schedule has been designed for busy professionals with work, family, and social commitments in mind. As our teaching blocks bridge the weekend, you shouldn’t need to take more than 25 working days out of the office across the programme.
Each in-person teaching block is 30- 40 hours of teaching. Alongside the in-person teaching, about 7-15 hours of virtual learning is required per week such as readings, self-paced learning, tutorials, assessments and informal study groups for each module.
In the Global Immersion module, we’ll travel to an overseas city to immerse you in the local business landscape. Through visiting local businesses in various sectors, charities and cultural institutions, you’ll study the national and global ecosystem that impacts businesses in that area. You’ll be able to bring this knowledge back to your own organisation, sector and ecosystem with renewed purpose and strategies.
You will be responsible for booking and purchasing your own flights for this trip.
There is an assessment attached to each module worth 10-15 credits depending on the module. The assessments are practical and applied so you can expect to work on things like case studies, presentations, reports and group projects. There is only one exam, and this is for the Strategic Finance & Accounting module.
The final assessment for The Impact Project module is worth 45 credits. In this assessment, you will work in a group with an organisation on a real-life consulting project. You will work to understand their challenge, research solutions, and then present your recommendations to help the organisation deliver real impact.
Your class will include talented executives from a wide range of sectors, all working towards the common goals of improving their leadership skills and having a positive impact on the world. As part of the programme, you will gain access to 1:1 professional executive coaching throughout the programme to help you clarify your goals and how to reach them; workshops to improve your knowledge of executive presence, executive recruitment, salary negotiation and promotion practices; speakers, guest lecturers, fireside chats across a range of industries; networking and connection activities with our alumni, executive fellows, advisory board and across the wider King's College London community.
