Expertise

The Comparative Literature Department at King’s is a stimulating research environment. Our staff bring multiple veins of experience and expertise to the subject.

We bring together proficiency in different cultures, disciplines, genres, and languages to foreground the idea of Comparative Literature as a worldly academic field.

Our publications and research interests cover the following regions:

- The Caribbean (modern literature)Promocard - Historyglobes
- Europe (classical & modern literatures)
- The Indian subcontinent (modern literature)
- North Africa and the Middle East (modern literature)
- Sub-Saharan Africa (modern literature)

Our work covers multiple themes, including reception, revolution, solidarity, testimony, translation, as well as music and the visual arts. This, in turn, is reflected in our department’s innovative taught programmes and strong track record of PhD research supervision.

Additionally, our research seminars provide a regular forum where we explore the latest developments in the field with speakers from near and far.
