In an unstable world, understanding risk is more vital than ever

From floods and fires to financial meltdowns and cyber threats, the challenges facing governments, businesses, and communities are complex and interconnected. This course offers a cutting-edge, interdisciplinary approach to risk and hazard analysis—drawing on psychology, political science, sociology, development studies, and physical geography.

Whether you're aiming for a career in government, consultancy, finance, or the non-profit sector, this is your launchpad into a rapidly evolving field. Graduates have gone on to shape policy and practice at leading institutions including the World Bank, UNICEF, and JP Morgan.

Want to help shape the cities of tomorrow?

With London as your very own urban laboratory, learn how cities everywhere are shaped by their people as much as their engineering - and how we need both working in harmony if we are to achieve a sustainable future.

Our students go on to work in sustainability consultancies, local governments, national government agencies around the world, as well as NGOs and private sector firms focusing on urban issues and urban development.

Understand the connections. Drive the change.

The MSc in Environment, Politics and Development at King’s College London offers an interdisciplinary approach to some of the most urgent challenges facing our world today. From climate justice and sustainability to global governance and resource politics, this programme equips students with the critical tools to analyse and influence complex environmental and development issues.

Graduates are well-prepared for careers in international development, environmental policy, NGOs, government agencies, research institutions, and global advocacy organisations. Many alumni go on to roles in policy analysis, programme management, consultancy, and doctoral research, making a tangible impact in shaping a more equitable and sustainable world.
