Research centres and groups in the Institute of Middle Eastern Studies

The Lebanon and Syria Research Group aims to provide a hub and interdisciplinary network for Levantine research within the Institute of Middle Eastern Studies (IMES).

The Centre for the Study of Divided Societies is a global focal point for teaching and research on the political, social, cultural, religious and ethno-national problems that divide and unite societies across the modern world.

This research group is an institutionalised, cross-departmental network of students and researchers focused on the Middle East and North Africa within the Institute of Middle Eastern Studies (IMES). The group meets regularly and engages with relevant organisations and societies working on the MENA region around the world. All public events are advertised via King's College London and everyone is welcome. The group is being convened by Inga Kristina Trauthig (inga.trauthig@kcl.ac.uk), with Amine Ghoulidi (amine.ghoulidi@kcl.ac.uk) in charge of communications. Ahou Koutchesfahani and Sofia Patel are this year’s conference organisers for the IMES annual conference 2021 taking place in autumn. The conference will focus on the Gulf and Iran. They can be contacted via menakcl2020@gmail.com. An overview and all recorded panels of the 2020 IMES annual conference which focused on North Africa can be accessed here: https://www.kcl.ac.uk/news/leading-scholars-share-insights-at-north-africa-conference You can follow us on social media here: @MenaKcl Public events: www.kcl.ac.uk/politics-economics/events
