The Growth Papers

Britain is in an economic bind driven by its long and persistent failure to grow. As a result, living standards have been stagnant for almost two decades, creating a steadily growing sense of national malaise. Britain needs a much stronger and more effective growth strategy. This series of papers, by two of the UK's most experienced economic policymakers – John Kingman and Shriti Vadera – will aim to show that such a strategy is very possible: countries can and do raise their growth rates.

Cash Lab

A new research project examining whether, and when, giving people direct financial support – without conditions on how they spend it – can break the cycle of poverty and improve outcomes. The Lab will bring together six randomised trials across the UK which are testing different kinds of cash interventions, delivered in different ways, to different groups of people.

Behavioural Public Policy Lab

The Behavioural Public Policy Lab at the School for Government advances the use of behavioural science in public policymaking in the UK and globally. At the lab, we combine experimental methods, survey research, field trials to generate evidence for real-world policy challenges. The Lab convenes an interdisciplinary community of researchers at King’s Policy Institute examining how behavioural insights can improve the design and implementation of effective and legitimate public policies.

Solidarity Symposia

School for Government is hosting a series of five Solidarity Symposia to support PhD students and early career researchers working in the social sciences and focusing on issues of social justice, offering space to share ideas, build networks and gain recognition. Each one-day hybrid event features keynote speakers, research presentations, and a £500 prize for the best talk.
