Supporting the NHS on the frontline

We are supporting the NHS frontline response at the most critical time in its history. This includes contributions from our community of newly graduated medical students and final year nursing students, volunteering by our clinical academics, the opening of COVID testing facilities on campus and workforce training in the field of critical care for registered nurses.

Rocio Martinez-Nunez

Dr Martinez-Nunez is running the diagnostic testing lab, easing the burden of testing for the NHS. Her team are also innovating with alternate chemical reagents, which could help to ease the testing backlog in laboratories.

Carolyne is part of the intensive and high dependency critical care training team, based at London's Nightingale Hospital in the ExCel Centre.

Professor Louise Rose co-founded the Life Lines project, reconnecting ICU patients and their clinicians with families via tablets. She has also paused her academic work at King's to support intensive care staff at St Thomas' Hospital, caring for patients and training junior ICU nurses and others as they treat COVID patients.
