The School of Cardiovascular Medicine & Sciences is one of the largest Schools within the Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine with a vibrant postgraduate community, focused on the mechanisms and treatment of cardiovascular disease.

PhD opportunities

The School hosts a BHF 4-year Cardiovascular PhD training programme as well as a BBSRC Integrative Biomedicine 4-year PhD programme.  

3-year interdisciplinary studentships in cardiovascular research are also funded by our BHF Centre of Research Excellence. 

We also place significant emphasis on the training of clinician scientists, with excellent integration of research and clinical training.

MSc in Cardiovascular Research

The School offers an MSc in Cardiovascular Research, which builds on the strength of King's BHF Centre of Research Excellence, which has the remit of training in cardiovascular research as part of its mission.

The programme provides graduates with advanced theoretical and practical training in the cardiovascular system in health and disease that will enable them to progress to further research, such as undertaking a PhD.

Short Courses

The School also runs the MRCS Revision Course which is specifically designed to enhance your skills in preparation for the MRCS (osce) examination. It includes modules for anatomy, pathology, critical care and clinical skills with real clinical cases.
