About the Ageing and Society research group
The Ageing & Society Research Group investigates the challenges of health and social care and the social, economic and policy consequences of ageing populations in both developed and developing worlds. A key feature of the work of this research group is its interdisciplinary perspective, particularly in terms of building a distinctive research culture around the processes of ageing in which staff and students are familiar with the latest thinking. It prioritises work that breaks down disciplinary and institutional barriers to provide effective research communication. A key aim of this research group is to foster ageing research within the Department (by encouraging collaborations among Department staff and across research groups) as well as across King’s (including King’s Health Partners) and externally.
The Institute of Gerontology (IoG) leads this research group. This research group’s themes are closely tied to those of the IoG focusing on: Ageing policy, health and healthcare; Communities, work and family life; and Global Ageing.
