We’re pleased to share that King’s has improved across all areas in the National Student Survey (NSS) for undergraduates and overall satisfaction in the Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey (PTES).
These surveys are run every year and are open to students in the final year of their course. They are an important way to help us understand what matters most to you, what’s working and where we need to do better. When you share your experience through surveys like these, you can help shape a better King’s for everyone.
What the results say
This year, 76% of final-year undergraduates (4,398 students) completed the NSS, and over 3,700 postgraduate taught students took part in PTES.
While our latest survey results show we’re making positive progress, they also show how important it is to continue our work to improve our students’ experience.
NSS overview and highlights
Graph showing National Student Survey 2026 results by survey theme: Positive responses per theme and year-on-year change.
Our average score across core NSS questions rose to 82%, a 2% increase from last year. The results also highlighted some of the progress we’re making in areas students have previously told us we can do better. For example, Student Voice is one of our biggest areas of improvement, showing more of you feel your feedback is listened to and acted upon.
Longer term, we’ve been working to improve our two lowest scoring areas of Organisation & Management and Assessment & Feedback and our results this year show increased positivity for both. Assessment & Feedback is our biggest area of improvement this year.
Our most positive responses were in the areas of Teaching, Academic Support and Learning Resources. For example, over 90% of you told us our teaching staff explain things clearly and that library resources support your learning effectively.

PTES overview and highlights
Graph showing Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey results by category and percentage change from last year.
Overall postgraduate satisfaction has increased to 87% and 2% higher than last year, achieving our highest level of overall satisfaction since 2017. Broken down, overall satisfaction for our distance learners increased by 3% to 89%, and by 2% to 87% for our on-campus learners.
Satisfaction with our Teaching & Learning and Organisation & Management has improved for both groups. Across the University, 94% of respondents agreed staff are enthusiastic about what they teach.
It’s very encouraging to see student positivity rising for a second consecutive year, reflecting the impact of our ongoing commitment to enhancing the student experience at King’s. Whether studying on campus or online, we want every student to benefit from an outstanding, forward-looking education, feel supported to achieve their ambitions, and leave King’s equipped to thrive in their future careers.– Professor Graham Wynn, Vice-President (Education & Student Success)
