Dr Ellie Dommett is a Senior Lecturer and the e-learning tutor for the BSc Psychology programme. She is the module convenor for a number of modules, including the core first year module Psychology and the Brain and a second year optional neuroscience module. Her primary research interest is in distractibility and its basis in the brain. Specifically, she is interested in what happens in situations where we have heightened distractibility, for example, in Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and in healthy ageing, and how this can be effectively treated. She is also interested in how knowledge about the brain can be used in education and has written a number of books for teachers.

Ellie is also the academic-lead on the TEL Transformation Strategy, and provides academic oversight for the TEL transformation Programme.

She has particular interests in:

  • Student perceptions of blended learning
  • Perceptions and impact of lecture capture
  • Digital literacy training for both staff and students
  • The use of online learning tools to support transition into and out of university
