Our Purpose
The Centre for Technology Enhanced Learning (CTEL) aims to improve the digital experience for staff and students by providing pedagogic and technological expertise in learning technologies. CTEL is located within the IT directorate, and have a university wide remit on innovative, sustainable and scalable technology to support the student and staff pedagogic experience. The services that CTEL provide include:
TEL Strategy and Transformation Programme
CTEL takes a strategic look at Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) across King’s and is responsible for the creation and delivery of the King’s Digital Learning strategy, which supports the overarching Education Strategy (2017- 2022) and Vision 2029.
TEL Governance
CTEL facilitates the governance and networks for digital education across King’s, supporting the strategic direction and thematic steering groups in collaboration with King’s Academy, King Online, and other faculties and departments. These groups are where specialist staff from across Kings decide and advise on best practice, initiatives and projects, with an institutional focus. The aim to ensure a joined up and consistent experience for staff and students.
Technology Implementation and management
CTEL develop and manage KEATS (Moodle) and current education technologies in use throughout the university, with a focus on employing sustainable scalable technology to facilitate large scale institutional change. CTEL also research, plan, implement, monitor and evaluate new university- wide technologies for education.
Staff CPD and Training
We offer a range of Continued Professional Development (CPD) activities to enable staff to engage, develop and enhance their knowledge and use of education technology. The activities are delivered throughout the academic year:
