By joining us, you will learn from and work alongside some of the foremost mathematical minds in the world. Our goal is to develop graduates with a pioneering mindset through research-led teaching, which encourages new ways of looking at familiar issues and develops innovative tools to solve complex problems.

In a world driven by data, studying statistics is more crucial than ever. It is a highly sought-after skill across all sectors, including Data Science, AI and Machine Learning. Our BSc program develops proficiency across key branches of mathematics and statistics, teaching you how data is analyzed, used and represented in society. By combining conceptual and analytical skills from mathematics with modeling and data analysis from statistics, you will build a unique toolkit for solving complex, real-world problems.

In your first and second years', you will cover robust statistical methods and their applications across various fields, such as healthcare, finance and social sciences. You will also understand the professional and ethical responsibilities of statisticians, including approaches to reliability and the quantification of uncertainty.

From second year onwards, you can choose from a range of optional modules, with the flexibility to specialise in the areas that interest you, or take a broader approach, including choosing from diverse modules in fourth year that cover topics including machine learning, computational methods, mathematics for finance, theoretical physics, geometry, number theory and algebra. You can also choose to apply your learning from three years of study to tackling a dissertation on a topic of your choice, benefiting from close supervision by one of our world-leading experts.

You will spend your third year gaining valuable work experience with a year-long placement at a UK company before returning to complete a final year with us.
